Heurelho Gomes – 7.5
Despite a shaky start, which saw the Brazilian misjudge a ball over the top, made a number of good stops to keep the Hornets level in the first half.
Daryl Janmaat – 7
Got forward to good effect in the first half and provided a number of decent overlapping opportunities on the right flank.
Miguel Britos – 6
Kept the Real attack at bay throughout and formed a solid centre-back pairing with Younes Kaboul.
Younes Kaboul – 6
Will have been pleased to have got the best part of 90 minutes under his belt after a summer battling injury problems and looked assured.
Jose Holebas – 6.5
Defensively sound and provided similar attacking threat on the left to Janmaat at right-back.
Nathaniel Chalobah – 6
Played in a deep role and was efficient in possession, using the ball well and keeping the hosts ticking over.
Abdoulaye Doucoure – 6.5
Like Chalobah played in a defensive midfield berth, and was similarly sensible in his use of the ball. Range of passing was a plus for Watford as he regularly initiated moves.
Tom Cleverley – 5
A tough day for the former Manchester United man who struggled in a role behind the striker as he repeatedly found himself too advanced. A poor first touch at the start of the second half saw him lose possession when clear on goal and waste Watford’s best opening.
Roberto Pereyra – 7
By far Watford’s best attacking outlet and enjoyed a free role which allowed him the drift between the lines. Went close to a fine winner with a curling effort in the second half.
Nordin Amrabat – 6.5
Linked up well with Janmaat on the right and put in a number of good crosses throughout.
Jerome Sinclair – 6
A tough task for the youngster as he played up top on his own. A couple of nice touches on a quiet day.
Subs
Sebastian Prodl – 6
Solid when introduced and looks likely to be selected to start when the season gets underway next week.
Isaac Success – 5
A couple of poor touches and wasted a golden chance to claim victory, volleying over when unmarked at the back post.
Will Hughes – 6
Another cameo appearance for the summer arrival which saw him use the ball well, but have little impact on proceedings as a whole.
Kiko Femenia – 6.5
Continued a promising start to life at Vicarage Road, getting forward well and almost provided and assist with a fine cross for Stefano Okaka.
Ben Watson – 6
Fit in well in midfield and provided a number of dangerous balls from set pieces.
Etienne Capoue – 5.5
The game passed him by after he came on and looks to have dropped down the pecking order under Marco Silva.
Stefano Okaka – 7
Saw a decent header ruled out for offside and got on the end of a number of crosses while putting himself about. Missed a fine chance to win it as he blazed over from Femenia’s cross.
Brandon Mason – N/A
Adrian Mariappa – N/A
