Watford's defensive injury concerns are set to continue after head coach Marco Silva confirmed Younes Kaboul and Sebastian Prodl will miss Saturday's meeting with Manchester City.

Kaboul pulled up with a hamstring injury against Southampton last week, while Prodl has been suffering with an injury since the international break.

Silva says Kaboul's absence in particular will be a big loss, and was full of praise for the former Tottenham Hotspur man.

"Kaboul is out of the match. He is a fantastic professional and a really important player for us," Silva said.

"He came back against Southampton and he did very well until the moment he picked up the injury.

"He knows my ideas and is a player with fantastic leadership and is important in our squad as well.

"Now is the moment to find another solution because he is out and Prodl is out as well. Britos is suspended, so now is the moment to find a solution for the XI."

Kiko Femenia was also taken off in the win at St Mary's and was taken to hospital with a head injury, but should be fit to play.

Silva also had positive news about Roberto Pereyra, who has been out since the opening day.

Silva said: "He is training with the team this week and he is a player who needs minutes in his legs.

"He worked with us last Friday and all this week he has worked with the team. He is one more solution for us and an important one."
