Watford's new head of UK recruitment Andy Scott wants to strike up a working relationship between the Hornets and former club Brentford, he has said in a parting message to the Bees.

Scott took up his role at Vicarage Road yesterday, in many ways viewed as a replacement for Luke Dowling who left earlier in the summer, and with the remit of recruiting players from the domestic leagues for both the first team and academy.

His offical title will be UK football recruitment director, working alongside technical director Filippo Giraldi, who essentially oversees the Hornets' transfer dealings.

He told Brentford's official website: “Watford is an excellent opportunity for me, working in the Premier League, and one I couldn’t turn down.

"It is a fantastic role. I think the way Brentford play and the quality of players we have here is the reason I was given the opportunity at Watford.

"It is testament to everyone at Brentford that I got this chance. I believe Brentford have a great chance of getting up and hopefully Watford and Brentford will meet in the Premier League.”
