Troy Deeney insists he is happy at Watford and will not push for a move away from Vicarage Road, despite being repeatedly linked with Everton.

The Watford skipper has been a peripheral figure at times this term, often playing second fiddle to record £18.5 million signing Andre Gray.

Despite six of his 11 appearances this season coming from the bench, Deeney says he is content in Hertfordshire and has no desire to leave.

“I am happy with life now,” he told Sky Sports. “I am happy coming into work. I have never wanted to move.

“It is about money at the end of the day with kids and family to support, but it is never about how much money I could earn.

“I am happy with what I’ve got, I am content, so if I don’t earn more money than this I am still happy.”

The 29-year-old was linked with a move to West Brom in the summer and new Everton boss, Sam Allardyce, is believed the be an admirer of the powerful forward.

While Deeney is flattered by interest from elsewhere, he will not push for a move away from a club he has spent eight years with and played the best football of career at.

He did, however, accept that should Watford decide to move him on he would take the decision with good grace.

“I have been linked over the last six years with several clubs. If they are linked with me then I thank them for the compliment but I am not pushing for anything. I am happy where I am,” he said.

“If we get to the summer and Watford say ‘shake hands, we are done’, then no hard feelings for me, we have been through a lot, good and bad, for the last eight years.

“They have stuck by me, I’ve stuck by them, it’s no hard feelings, it is work and it’s the nature of the business. I am not going to lose any sleep over it.”
