Willem II striker Fran Sol was reportedly in attendance at Vicarage Road as Watford played out a goalless draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The 26-year-old’s presence in WD18 has sparked rumours the Hornets are set to make a summer move for the Spaniard as they look to boost their goalscoring options.
A return of 16 goals from 30 games this season has seen Sol’s stock rise around Europe and Valencia and Villarreal are also said to be interested in securing his services.
The forward’s contract expires in 2019, meaning Willem could be convinced to cash in on Sol to avoid losing him on a free further down the line.
Watford’s lack of a regular goalscorer has been a burden for the Vicarage Road club this season, with Troy Deeney, Andre Gray and Stefano Okaka managing just 11 between them this term.
Of Watford’s three out and out strikers, Deeney is top scorer with six goals but three of his strikes have come from the penalty spot.
Okaka has a solitary goal, which he scored on the opening day of the season, while record £18.5 million signing Gray has struggled in his maiden Watford season and scored four times.
