Adam Masina says he is committed to improving himself after joining Watford on a five-year deal.

The left-back put the finishing touches on his transfer from Bologna yesterday and has already been involved with his new team-mates at pre-season training.

The 24-year-old is delighted to have joined a Premier League outfit and feels Watford is the right club to help him develop as a player.

“I am so happy to be here and I have come here to improve myself, to better my English and my professional life,” he told the Watford website.

“I think the Watford staff are top staff and can help me to improve and become a new player.

“My thinking is to improve myself in any way possible. For me, that is the most important thing.”

The Italian’s biggest challenge could well be adapting to the unique demands of the Premier League, where he is likely to face a more physical test than he has encountered to date in Serie A.

Masina is well aware of the nature of English football and the qualities he feels he possesses certainly lend themselves to the Premier League.

“I’ve followed the Premier League since two or three years ago because I think it is my style of football, and I think one day it can help me become better,” he said.

“I am a left-back. I like to run, to fight and to play with the ball because the ball for me is important. I am physical, but this season I learned to use my body better.”

Masina’s final comments saw him deliver a message to the Watford fans and he says he will give his all for both them and his new club.

He said: “I am a worker. I work every single day to improve for my team and for the fans. Every single day.”
