It is 19 years to the day since Watford recorded one of their most famous Premier League wins as they claimed a 1-0 victory against the mighty Liverpool at Anfield.
Tommy Mooney got the game’s only goal as Graham Taylor’s Hornets withstood heavy pressure to pick up all three points in front of the Kop.
The Watford icon made the most of some sloppy defending to fire past Sander Westerveld in the 14th minute for one of his most well-remembered strikes in Watford yellow.
Times have changed since then, as evidenced by the fact it took our sports editor Anthony Matthews two days to receive news of the win while travelling through America, and upsets against the Premier League’s top sides have become more common place for Watford.
Regardless, the success on Merseyside remains a memorable one for Watford fans. Why not relive Mooney’s winner and let us know where you watched the game in the comments below.
