Northwood crashed to a surprise 1-0 defeat at bottom club Witham Town in Ryman One North on Saturday.

The visitors started brightly and could have taken the lead but Sean Sonner's header was deflected onto the woodwork.

But the hosts struck the winning blow in the 11th minute when Darren Hawes' free kick deflected off the Wood wall and into the net.

Wood threw everything at the home side but could not get the breakthrough with Otis Williams spurning their last chance of the match.
