A 20-year-old man has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence after a 10-hour armed siege at a snooker hall.

Reece Theison, of no fixed address, was also charged with theft and criminal damage following an incident in which dozens of armed police were called to the middle of Hucknall town centre at about 2.20pm on Thursday, Nottinghamshire Police said.

A force spokesman said Theison is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court later today.

A police cordon remains at the Spot On snooker club in Vine Terrace just off the High Street where a final forensic examination and searches are being carried out.

During the incident, police told businesses to lock their doors and stay inside while a nearby school was also evacuated.

The armed stand-off eventually ended at about 12.40am in the early hours of yesterday when armed officers entered the snooker hall and arrested the man.
