<title>Cavendish Safer Neighbiurhoods Team hold street briefing in Cavendish.</title>
           <link>http://www.hillingdontimes.co.uk/yoursay/blogs/readerblogs/4390140.Cavendish_Safer_Neighbiurhoods_Team_hold_street_briefing_in_Cavendish_/?ref=rss</link>
<description> On the 27th and 28th of April 2009, the Cavendish Safer Neighbourhood Team held street briefings in Bideford and Exmouth Road, Ruislip. The street briefings give the opportunity for the local
community to come and discuss any disorder related issues they have been experiencing in order for the SNT to develop realistic and practical long-term solutions. It is our priority to establish a
continued, valuable and supportive rapport between the Police and the public and the briefings have provided an avenue for this to be created. We received our best turn out yet, with many residents
interested in our crime prevention advice and general reception in the area. As a direct response to the publics needs, we propose to introduce a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in Exmouth Road. NHW is
a method of developing a close liaison between households, the Local Police and the Local Authority. The aim is to help people protect themselves and their properties, to reduce crime and the fear
of crime. Neighborhood Watch helps the community to work in co-operation and partnership with the Police and Local Authority at all times to prevent and detect crime. Please contact the team if you
so wish for a NHW scheme in your road and we will organize its launch. We also have Street Briefings and Public Meetings ongoing where you can express your views which will contribute towards
  better community relations.

<title>Cavendish Safer Neighbourhoods Team work with Newnham Primary School to improve bridge.</title>
           <link>http://www.hillingdontimes.co.uk/yoursay/blogs/readerblogs/4273648.Cavendish_Safer_Neighbourhoods_Team_work_with_Newnham_Primary_School_to_improve_bridge_/?ref=rss</link>
<description>Eastcote Railway Bridge is for many the first thing they see as they exit the station or drive down Field End Road. The bridge itself has for many years been a cause of concern to local residents and shop keepers alike who feel it is a real eyesore. Over the past couple of years graffiti and the weather have all contributed to its deterioration leaving the bridge itself in need of some serious TLC.

Cavendish Safer Neighbourhoods Team saw a real opportunity to improve the appearance of the local area whilst attempting to reduce crime at the same time. The talented pupils from Newnham School situated in Newnham Avenue just around the corner from the bridge proved to be the ideal designers for the new artwork that was to be placed onto the completed bridge.

The final design was shown to the Railway Bridge Consultative Committee. The committee was made up from strategic members who all had a vested interest in the bridge. The committee’s job was to drive the project forward and they did just that, having met up several times over the duration of the project that has taken 23 months to date.

Cavendish Safer Neighbourhoods Team, TFL/Metronet and Newnham School is now proud to present the final design that incorporates the efforts and commitment of many peoples hard work over the past few years.

<description>From the 23rd until the 27th March, the Cavendish Safer Neighbourhood Team visited all of the local nurseries and infant schools for a week of community engagement and educational fun. ‘PCSO Steve’, an 8’00’’ costume of a fun and friendly Police Community Support Officer was the focus of attention being an excellent medium for interaction between the children and the police. Emphasis was on creating a relaxed environment in order to introduce the children to the nature of policing and to create a sense to trust between us for any future encounters. The proactive scheme has hopefully instilled reassurance in the community that the police are approachable, accessible and enthusiastic about being involved within the neighbourhood.</description>
