BEFORE heading to Rhyl for five nights in March, there's still time for By the Waters of Liverpool actor Sian Reeves to upturn Weatherfield.

A familiar face on stage and screen, Reeves can currently be seen causing a stir on the cobbles of Coronation Street in an outlandish plot involving Joe Duttine's Tim Metcalfe and a drunken Las Vegas wedding.

Reeves will trade Salford for Merseyside in a headlining role as the mother of bestselling author Helen Forrester’s in the stage adaptation of her life, which runs at the Pavilion from Tuesday, March 31 to Saturday, April 4.

Hillingdon Times:

Soap star Sian Reeves

In celebration of the late author's 100th Birthday, Reeves will be on hand for the unveiling of a Blue Plaque at a special event in February at the Forrester family home in Hoylake, alongside costar Mark Moraghan, who plays her’s father, and Forrester’s son Robert Bhatia.

Reeves said: “I have read about five of Helen’s books and it’s a real treat to be re-reading and playing Celia. I also feel very honoured to have been asked to unveil Helen’s Blue Plaque with my lovely co-star Mark Moraghan, who I’ve worked with before. Helen was a magnificently clever woman, and it will be lovely to meet some of her family at this very special occasion.”

Until then, the actor - who was an original cast member of the 1985 stage production of Les Misérables and has starred in Casualty, Cutting It, Emmerdale and Holby City - still has business at the Rovers.

She plays Charlie Wood, the wife Tim Metcalfe didn’t know he had. They married in what was presumed to be a spoof wedding some years ago in Las Vegas.

Fearful of being charged with bigamy, Tim tracks Charlie down and asks for a divorce - but things don’t quite go to plan.

Reeves added: “Charlie Wood is a sweet girl. When they meet up again, Tim doesn’t mention being married to Sally. He lavishes a lot of attention on her to get the divorce, and she thinks he’s in love with her.

"Humiliated when Sally confronts them – she runs off without signing the papers. But if Tim was hoping he’d seen the last of her, he was very much mistaken. Watch this space.”
