ONE of the most popular and successful acts in the world of folk music is coming to Uxbridge Folk Club on Thursday, April 16.
After 40 years of continual worldwide touring, Vin Garbutt is one of the elder statesmen of folk.
Renowned for his hilarious intros and powerful song lyrics, his brilliant live shows are warm, moving, funny and honest.
He’ll often be found playing to thousands as the main act at a festival – and he comes to Uxbridge after headlining a festival in Scotland.
Vin’s songs cover the detail of everyday life, the insanity of war, the people he has met, the Teesside environment where he grew up and more.
Between the songs, he tells stories that most stand-up comics would covet. He has only one other gig inside the M25 this year, so this is a rare opportunity to see him.
There’s also a very young support act in Danny Pedler and Rosie Butler-Hall, who start the show at 8pm.
There will be some tickets on the door (£12), but people are strongly advised to buy in advance from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/307212 Under 18s are free, students £3 Uxbridge Folk Club www.tinyurl.com/uxfolk meets twice a month on a Thursday at Uxbridge Royal Naval Association, 388a Long Lane, Hillingdon, Middlesex.
