PART-time GP Dr Onkar Sahota has won the GLA seat for Ealing and Hillingdon — pushing milkman turned Conservative councillor Dominic Gilham into second place.

UKIP’s Alex Nieora followed in a distant third, almost tying with Green Party candidate Meena Hans on fourth.

Liberal Democrat Francesco Fruzza came last in the race for a seat in City Hall.

Earlier today Ealing Council confirmed provisional turnouts of 47% in Ealing and 44% in Hillingdon — an increase on 2012’s election turnout.

Dr Sahota will now be expected to deliver on his health-focussed election platform, promising to fight hospital closures and health inequality.

He has also vowed to continue to oppose a third runway, calling for a better Heathrow rather than a bigger one.

Dr Sahota was born in India before moving to Hillingdon in 1961, studying medicine and working as a west London GP.

Voters in Ealing and Hillingdon are also expected to back Sadiq Khan for the London Mayoralty over Conservative Zac Goldsmith.
