LABOUR success Onkar Sahota thanked supporters before condemning the campaign ‘nasty, personal and divisive' today.

Part-time GP Dr Sahota won the Ealing and Hillingdon GLA seat with 86,088 votes – pushing milkman-turned-Conservative-councillor Dominic Gilham into second place earlier.

UKIP candidate Alex Nieora followed in a distant third, almost tying with Green Party candidate Meena Hans on fourth and Liberal Democrat Francesco Fruzza came last in the race for a seat in City Hall.

“This campaign has been very nasty, personal and divisive, and has happened on my patch also,” said Dr Sahota in his victory speech.

“Sadiq Khan and I fought the election to unite and progress the issues that effect Londoners: Housing, transport, being pro-business and also looking after our NHS.”

Mr Khan looks set to become Mayor of London.
