A BRAINY graduate from Hayes has won the award for ‘Best Pharmaceutical Science Student’ from the University of Greenwich.
Gladys Ojera received the honour in recognition of her achievements while achieving a first class degree in the Faculty of Engineering & Science, based at the Medway Campus in Kent.
The former student of Bishop Ramsey C of E School said: “It was an unexpected surprise.
“I am delighted to have won, and I am so grateful to the lecturers and my fellow students.”
The 21-year-old was awarded at a splendid graduation ceremony in historic Rochester Cathedral, attended by hundreds of graduands.
Professor Martin Snowden, Pro Vice-Chancellor, University of Greenwich, said: “It is a marvellous achievement to be one of our prize winners.
“There is great competition among our talented students to be selected for a special award and I am delighted that her hard work and dedication has been richly rewarded.”
Gladys is now taking a gap year, followed by further study as she aims to start a Master’s degree next year.
