It was a privilege to enjoy the opening night of Britain’s newest cinema  – Cineworld in South Ruislip – and with 11-screens and 1,765 seats you’re spoilt for choice

Featuring uber-modern architecture, the glossy, futuristic building surrounded by summer-scented blooms, conveys a holiday night out vibe.

Inside, Cineworld promises the best of Hollywood blockbusters – kicking off with Spiderman on its official day of release.

But there are also Bollywood hits, Movies for Juniors featuring recent releases (a snip at just £2 a head), Cinebabies screenings (when baby goes free) and autism-friendly showings.

For me, it’s the details that set it apart. Other cinemas charge through the nose for ‘premium’ seats, but at Cineworld, every seat’s a VIP seat.

It’s also ultra-comfy with ample legroom, bypassing any stand-up-breathe-in malarkey allowing pesky latecomers to shuffle and squeeze past.

Sharply tiered seating means that every row is cleverly elevated from the one in front, so that nobody’s head bobs in the way of the screen.

Cineworld general manager Sam Tomlinson clearly relished the opening night buzz having extensively drilled his 50-strong team.

“We’re all ready to open, and the team are so excited,” said Sam.

“The reaction on the web’s gone nuts, and with the 7-day countdown, there’s been so many shares, social media is definitely buzzing for us.”

Cineworld Vice President Justin Skinner promised 'the best of cinema on your doorstep'.

He said: "We're so proud that this is our 96th cinema in the UK and Ireland. Every time we open a cinema, we look at bringing the best technology, so we have the newest digital projectors and the comfiest seats."

Surrounded by eateries including Frankie and Benny’s, Chiquito, Nando and Starbucks with plentiful free parking, there’s a fair chance you’ll want to stick around the Old Dairy site and make a great night out.

The signs are promising with hundreds of advance bookings for Spiderman and Despicable Me at the movie multiplex.

So whatever your taste, sit back, relax as they dim the lights and let the credits roll.

Cineworld is now open at The Old Dairy, Victoria Road, South Ruislip.
