PETS at Home Ruislip has partnered with the Alzheimer’s Society to improve the in-store experience for customers living with dementia.

Over the course of Dementia Action Week, colleagues and customers joined those across the country to raise more than £50,000 for the cause through sales of pin badges, ‘round to a pound’ and in-store activities, including bake sales.

As part of the partnership, more than 13,400 staff in all 440 stores, including the support office and distribution centres, are to become Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friends.

The initiative aims to change people’s perceptions of dementia. All future employees will become Dementia Friends as standard during their induction programme.

Store manager Damien Parsons said: “The team and I at Ruislip would like to say a massive thank you to all of our customers for their support with the campaign and their generous donations.

“Our team will be more confident in assisting customers exhibiting behaviour commonly associated with the condition.”
