STUDENTS at Heathrow Aviation Engineering College at Northwood are celebrating after collecting their GCSE results.
The aviation engineering college, which offers a strong technical education in a workplace-style environment, saw grades in both mathematics and science improve from last year. Maths saw a significant increase of 16% at grade 4 and above.
Luke Williams, of Uxbridge, gained a Grade 8 in English Literature, with Grade 6 in English language, geography and science as well as passes in maths and a B in IT. Luke is hoping to gain an apprenticeship and become an engineer.

Principal Wayne Edwards said: “Our Year 11 students have achieved a great deal in the two years since they joined the college. They have not only gained academic qualifications but have also learned useful workplace skills and had valuable real-world project experience thanks to our industry partners.”
Students at Heathrow UTC benefit from opportunities outside the classroom. This year, they began a project to build their own plane, and teams won several categories in the Royal Navy Engineering Challenge.
