A FOREST of waggy tails  was waiting to greet Nick Hurd, the Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner MP, when he visited Dogs Trust West London at its Harvil Road, Harefield, centre on Friday.

Mr Hurd was given a tour of the rehoming centre and met a number of dogs currently awaiting their forever homes, including Dan the two-year-old trailhound.

Assistant manager Jo Lloyd said: “It was an opportunity to show him the work we do for the dogs in our care.

“It was great to hear that Nick cares about animal welfare and it was a fantastic opportunity to discuss key dog welfare issues we feel so strongly about, including designer puppy breeds, such as French bulldogs and pugs being smuggling into Britain from Central and Eastern Europe.”

Last year, the centre re-homed 653 dogs and has already placed 450 this year. If you are interested in adopting, call 0300 303 0292. www.dogstrust.org.uk.
