SUPPORTERS are raising funds to restore the familiar Nicholas Garnett statue in Denham Country Park, which was damaged by vandals.

The statue is less than three years old and is a striking attraction in the park, which attracts thousands of visitors each year. It is thought restoration work will cost around £700.

Wood for the statue came from nearby Black Park and the work was made possible by a donation from Denham resident Glenys Price.

Denham Country Park is part of Colne Valley Regional Park and is popular with walkers from Uxbridge, Ruislip and Ickenham.

“This mindless act or destruction will cost several hundred pounds to repair and we’re asking for donations of any amount to help fund it,” said a spokesman.
