STUDENTS at Barnhill Community High School in Hayes collected more than £600, as well as hundreds of tins of food, for homeless Hillingdon Foodbank.
Before the summer, Year 9 Child Development pupils started a project called Homelessness in the Borough.
They gave assemblies to all year groups to raise awareness and then made a presentation to John McDonnell MP and the President of the National Education Union, Kiri Tunks.

They asked Mr McDonnell to petition for more homeless shelters and Mr Tunks to campaign for families to be found accommodation so the children can attend school.
The students didn’t stop there as they held a non-uniform day to collect tins of food and cash.
