ONE of the last remaining survivors of the HMT Lancastria disaster in World War Two has celebrated his 101st birthday in a joint celebration in Uxbridge.

Ernest Beesley celebrated alongside fellow resident Barbara Poulton, who turned 95, at Bupa’s Clare House care home in Harefield Road.

Last year, Ernest celebrated his centenary with a Tennessee Waltz and afternoon tea at the home, plus a surprise ride in a vintage car.
