People can now have their say on sites of architectural and historic interest that should be added to the Local List.

Watford Borough Council want to hear from the public about heritage sites and buildings of significance, so they can be considered when planning applications are dealt with.

The consultation on the amended locally listed buildings document runs until November 30.

Cllr Iain Sharpe, portfolio holder for regeneration and development, said: “There are 240 locally listed buildings in Watford and this document helps protect these buildings, which are a significant part of our local heritage.

“That’s why it’s so important the council hears from residents about what buildings are important to you.”

Current sites of significance include Watford Girls’ Grammar School and the town’s central library, to Edwardian horse troughs and World War II pillboxes.

The list also features buildings in the town designed by architects of international importance, such as Erno Goldfinger, Alison and Peter Smithson and Ethel Clara McNamara - one of the first women architects to be recognised as such in England in the 1920s.
