Police have arrested a second person in connection with a stabbing in the town centre.

A 19-year-old man was detained this morning as police continue to investigate a stabbing in The Parade, Watford, at around 5.40pm.

He remains in police custody.

A 17-year-old from Colindale was arrested by police yesterday in connection with the incident.

The 19-year-old victim is in hospital. He is in a serious but stable condition.

Plain clothes officers were in Watford town centre today, presumably as part of the investigation. The group of five, who wore black coats with caps with ‘police’ on, and blue gloves, were outside Tops Pizza, before they continued towards Rosslyn Road.

A number of officers were out patrolling the town centre today and Hertfordshire Constabulary wants to reassure people that knife crime is "relatively rare" in the county and the force remains committed to tackling knife crime.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. Anyone with any information should call police on 101 quoting ISR 583 of 7/11/2018.
