People have been working with a housing association in Watford to wrap up and send presents to sick children over Christmas.

Hightown Housing Association’s Young People’s Housing Service in provides accommodation and support services to vulnerable people aged 16 - 25 in Watford and Hemel Hempstead.

Several businesses have supported the donation drive, including Watford-based Matty Max Maintenance and Tapestry Cakes as well as Hayley-Jane’s Cakes in Colney Heath.

Dannielle Tocker, Hightown Scheme manager for the Young People’s Housing Service, said: “Thank you to everyone who has already sent in donations.

“It really is a great opportunity to spread some Christmas cheer for children who are spending the festive period in hospital.

“It has become a tradition for our young residents to wrap presents for children at Great Ormond Street Hospital and we’re hoping this year will be our biggest and best donation drive yet.”

Each gift box will be full of presents which can include items such as pyjamas, fluffy socks, DVDs, toys, colouring books, crayons, board games, reading books, selection boxes and arts & craft activities.

Anyone wishing to donate, should contact Dannielle Tocker at dannielle.tocker@hightownha.org.uk or call 01923 210490.

All donations must be brand new, due to immune suppressed children.

The last day for donations is December 20.
