Commuters claimed they waited 90 minutes to leave a station car park, as roadworks in the town centre bring Watford to a standstill.
Drivers were left in queues to leave Watford Junction station car park yesterday evening (Monday) and it is due to temporary traffic lights in Clarendon Road.
Ringway are carrying out drainage work at the junction of St John’s Road and the work is expected to take around three weeks to complete.
@networkrail .....please explain why it takes nearly 2 hours to get of Watford Junction car park?! Words can’t explain my annoyance

@Richard4Watford Does anyone care about the chaos of Watford Junction car park. The infrastructure is not good enough for the town. Someone needs to listen.

But it's not just train passengers affected.
This morning, the lights had a knock-on effect on traffic coming into Watford with roads gridlocked through Colonial Way Business Park, Radlett Road, and Orphanage Road, from the A4008, towards Clarendon Road.
As a result of the gridlock, drivers used Watford ring-road as an alternative route but traffic soon snarled up, from Waterfields Way all the way round to Clarendon Road.
Traffic in Watford this morning
Wesley Hackett said no one moved for 30 minutes out of Watford Junction last night and blamed it on the exit being blocked by vehicles in Station Road, while Paul Brocklehurst said he waited an hour and 40 minutes to leave the car park.
The ongoing drainage work in Clarendon Road is scheduled to finish by February 8. Ringway, who work on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council, has been approached for comment.
Elsewhere, drivers faced delays on the A41 this morning near Hunton Bridge. There are lane closures near the junction of Langleybury Lane because of traffic signal refurbishment.

While in Radlett, it is believed Hertfordshire County Council are assessing the situation in Watling Street at the junction of Harper Lane. It has taken people around an hour in some cases to pass the work, with permanent traffic lights being installed.
