A WEST Drayton man today admitted contravening the Air Navigation Order 2016 by flying a model aeroplane near the Heathrow Airport perimeter.
George Rusu, 38, of Blunts Avenue, entered the plea at Uxbridge Magistrates Court. He was fined £2,000 and must pay costs of £85 and a £200 victim surcharge.
The court also ordered that his model plane be destroyed.
Police on patrol in Sipson Way at around 3pm on Christmas Eve spotted Rusu flying the fixed-wing, model aeroplane.
They arrested him and later charged him with flying an unmanned aircraft without permission of air traffic control.
