Two people are dead and another in hospital following a high-speed police chase after an aggravated burglary.

Metropolitan Police were called at around 8.40pm yesterday to reports of an aggravated burglary at an address in Harrow.

Shortly after, officers were pursuing three people in a vehicle with the help of a police helicopter.

At around 9pm, the car moved onto the wrong side of the A40 against traffic – but police did not follow.

The vehicle then collided with a coach near the junction with Kingsdown Avenue.

Two people - one male and one female - were pronounced dead at the scene and a second man was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is still unknown.

There were no reports of any other injuries.

Road closures remain in place while emergency services are on the scene.
