A “welcoming, vibrant” primary school has been rated as “Good” after a recent inspection.
St John’s Church of England School in Stanmore was “delighted” to receive the rating from Ofsted inspectors following an assessment on January 9.
The report recognised the work done by the school to maintain the grade since its last inspection in June 2015.
One inspector said: “The school is a welcoming, vibrant and nurturing place for pupils to learn and thrive and pupils’ personal development is at the heart of academic success.”
Highlights from the report include:
• Leadership maintaining good quality of education since the last inspection
• Senior leaders and governors are “highly ambitious” on behalf of pupils
• Gaps in pupils’ learning have been addressed
• Pupils talk maturely about how the school helps them stay safe online
• Pupils understand their role in preventing all types of potential bullying
Headteacher, Jo Hester, added: “Our Ofsted report clearly shows that we have children who feel happy and safe to come to school and enjoy learning. I am pleased that the dedication of staff, pupils, governors and families has been recognised and we will continue to ensure our children thrive here.”
Chair of governors, The Rev Matthew Stone, said: “The staff and governors remain focused on ensuring the children receive the best education possible, academic, social and emotional.”
