POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information following a crash that gridlocked the A40 at Hillingdon yesterday evening.

They were called at 5:32 to Hillingdon Circus following a collision involving a car and a motor cycle.

The motor cycle rider, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital by air ambulance. His condition is life-threatening.

There have been no arrests, but the car driver is assisting police.

Road closures were put in place as police worked to clear the scene.
