A park building in a popular beauty spot has been shortlisted for an award.

Set in one of the top 10 parks in the UK, the Cassiobury Park Hub has been shortlisted in the RICS Awards 2019 under the Community Benefit category for the East of England which recognises “outstanding achievement in providing a facility which directly benefits the community”.

Completed by Watford Borough Council and partners in 2017, the hub has already won the Most Sustainable Construction Award and Project of the Year Award at the Hertfordshire Building Futures Awards in 2018.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “I’m pleased that the Cassiobury Hub has been recognised once again, in what’s been an incredible year for the park.

“The Hub provides a great civic space where people of all ages can come together and enjoy.

“In 2018, a record breaking 1.2 million people used these facilities.

“The park really is one of the jewels in Watford’s crown.”

The RICS Awards 2019 take place at a ceremony in The Apex, Bury, on Wednesday May 15.
