SUPPORTERS of Michael Sobell Hospice at last have the news they have been waiting for – that the in-patient unit will soon reopen at its Mount Vernon Hospital site.
End-of-life care in the borough is coming under the control of Hillingdon Clinical Commissioning Group, which says the unit will relocate as soon as essential refurbishment work is complete.
The existing building has only a limited life span and it is likely the hospice will need additional financial support, which it is hoped supporters will get behind.

Michael Sobell Charity continues to fully fund the day hospice at Mount Vernon, as it always has done.
Chair of trustees Rosalind Williams said: “This is such wonderful news. When the hospice in-patient unit reopens, it will be able to provide all the holistic care with which the name Michael Sobell has become associated over the years, coupled with more flexibility and greater choice for our patients.
“A big thank-you to the local community for your campaigning and continued support – more than 10,000 voices have been heard.”
