Parking in Harrow is undergoing a technological revolution as residents will now be able to pay using an online app.
From June, paper parking permits will be replaced by virtual ones managed by parking payment operator PayByPhone.
In addition, from April 1, the parking sites which previously made us of RingGo will be covered by the PayByPhone app.
Cllr Varsha Parmar, responsible for the environment at Harrow Council, said: “This is just another way that we’re modernising what we do at Harrow Council to save money and make life easier for our residents.
“No more fiddling about with documents, fishing for loose change or rushing back to top up the meter – you can take care of it all on your phone from now on.”
Drivers can pay for parking with PayByPhone at 90 locations across the borough, which covers more than 3,500 on- and off-street parking spaces.
Cash will still be accepted at PayPoint services available in nearby shops, while it will also be an option at most pay-and-display locations.
