Charities, community and voluntary organisations are being encouraged to apply for grants of up to £10,000 to improve their area.

The Wembley Park Community Fund offers these groups a chance to receive financial support to help make the region a better place to live and work.

Now in its third round of funding, the Quintain-led scheme is supported by Brent Council and other groups working in Wembley Park.

Cllr Muhammed Butt, leader of Brent Council, said: “Wembley Park brings investment, new jobs and apprenticeships to the people of Brent, transforming the area into a new urban heart for Brent.

“In addition to the changes you can see, initiatives such as The Wembley Park Community Fund help fund local groups in their brilliant work in the surrounding area.”

It has helped fund 20 projects over the past two years, including African drumming school Abundance Arts, Toucan Employment, which supports vulnerable adults seeking work, and the Greater London Youth Foundation

As Brent is the London Borough of Culture for 2020, 40 per cent of the funding pot will be used to support arts and cultural projects in the region.

Previous winners include Musicus, an intergenerational group music making programme, and an oral history project that culminated in a women’s suffrage exhibition at Brent Civic Centre.

Applications can be made at londoncf.org.uk/grants/the-wembley-park-community-fund and are open until midday on June 3.
