PUPILS from St Mary’s RC Primary in Rockingham Close, Uxbridge, performed at the National Theatre this week.
Schools from across the UK were given the chance to create their own interpretation of a poem and St Mary’s chose Thinker: My Puppy Poet and Me, by Eloise Greenfield.
Out of more than 100 submissions, their performance was judged the best, which is why Year 2 at St Mary’s were on stage in front of an audience of 900.
Three pupils, Neeyan, Gabriel and Szymon, from Year 6 at Petts Hill Primary in Newmarket Avenue, Northolt, chose a poem from Rebound by Kwame Alexander for their performance on stage.
The CLIPPA (Centre for Literacy in Primary Poetry) annual awards are the only ones that celebrate poetry for children.
