BOLTON Council has confirmed it is investigating complaints about pollution in Darcy Lever.

A number of residents have complained that they are at their wit’s end due to ‘noxious’ fumes blighting the area.

Local businesses have been accused of burning materials, which create billowing clouds of dark smoke and bad smells.

In addition to the pollution, there were also complaints of noise and vibrations coming from the machines some of the businesses use from early in the morning to late at night, every day of the week.

The town hall is currently investigating the issue.

A spokesman said: “We have received complaints from residents in the area and there is an ongoing investigation into the issue.”
