A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was hit by a car in Bolton.

Shortly before 12.30am last Friday, police were called to reports of an incident involving a pedestrian and a car at the junction of Moss Bank Way and Knott Lane.

A 37-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. His condition remains serious but stable.

A 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been bailed pending further police enquiries.

According to witnesses there was an altercation between the pedestrian and the driver of a silver Seat Leon car shortly before the incident.

A short time later, the car was seen to drive at speed and hit the pedestrian, before it drove off from the scene leaving the victim critically injured on the road.

Detective Inspector Andrew Fallows, of GMP’s Bolton district, said: “It is now a week since this incident which left a man seriously injured and fighting for his life.

“We are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw a silver coloured Seat Leon in the area at the time, to get in touch immediately.”
