Visitors to a shopping centre can help clean up the neighbourhood and have the chance to win prizes.

Starting on Saturday, August 17, the Broadwalk Centre, in Station Road, Edgware, is inviting the community to come together to clean up the town’s streets as part of a day including environmental games and competitions.

As a reward for the local community’s support and work tidying up the streets on the Saturday, the centre is throwing a One Great Day Extravaganza on Sunday, August 18.

This will include live music and art performances, community activities, competitions and challenges in aid of Bright Futures UK — a charity that supports young people forced to take time off school for medical reasons — and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Angela Brooks, general manager at the Broadwalk Centre, said: “One Great Day is a fantastic event that allows our community to come together whilst helping children that really need support.

“Hosting an event like this is a really fun way to give something back to support the wonderful work of Bright Futures UK and Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, which supports patients and families across the UK.”

Michael Noe, Trustee of One Great Day, said: “We are thrilled to have The Broadwalk Centre as one of the 200 shopping centres taking part this year, helping so many children’s health charities across the country.”

One Great Day was established in 2014 and has so far raised over £500,000 for 113 different children’s charities along with Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.
