One doughnut lover queued through the night to make she was first in line at the opening of a new Krispy Kreme in Watford.

Marcie Bateman, from Hemel Hempstead, camped out at the Trade City site in Thomas Sawyer Way from 2.45am yesterday morning, ahead of the grand opening at 10am.

Marcie's patience rewarded her with a £150 Krispy Kreme voucher.

She said: "I’m a huge Krispy Kreme fan, and have visited the store at intu for years now, so I’m delighted they’ve opened a second store in the town.

"I’m thrilled to celebrate with my prizes, especially the voucher – my family and friends will be too, as I’ll be sure to share it."

The first dozen people in the queue bagged themselves some sweet prizes and Krispy Kreme goodies and more than 60 people lined up for the tasty treats.

Some played a spin-to-win wheel which offered the chance to win free doughnuts.

Krispy Kreme mascot Mr OG, which stands for original glazed, provided entertainment for the youngsters.

The new Trade City store will also have a factory where doughtnuts are freshly baked before being distributed out to shops in the area.

Craig Evans, new store openings manager at Krispy Kreme, said: "We are overwhelmed at the response. For people to camp out from 3am shows true dedication to the brand.

"It was a really fun morning."
