HAREFIELD Hospital is throwing open its doors to visitors for a Theatre Open Day on Tuesday, September 17, 10am-3pm.

The theatres are a national hub for cardio-thoracic surgery, which also includes heart and lung transplants, via open and minimally invasive approaches.

Nurses, surgeons and anaesthetists will be giving interactive demonstrations.

There will be an opportunity to see ventilated lungs in action and valve dissections while former patients will speak about how surgery changed their lives.

A PATIENT will take part in the Harefield 5k Fun Run this Sunday just 39 days after he had his Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) removed.

Okey ‘Bull’ Menakaya is currently recovering at Harefield and, to say thank you, more than 20 of his friends and family have entered a team to raise money for Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity. So far, they have been pledged more than £1,000.

The 38th annual Harefield Fun Run and Family Day will take place in the grounds of the hospital.
