Nominations for this year’s Mayor Award has been announced.

People in Watford have been asked to vote for people who have been nominated in the Mayor’s Award category of the Audentior Awards.

The Mayor’s Award celebrates the contributions made by individuals to the town. The award ceremony will take place October 11 (Friday) at Watford Colosseum.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “Thank you to all the Watford residents who put forward their everyday heroes for the Audentior Awards.

“I now need your help deciding who the winner of the Mayor’s Award should be because we have three outstanding contenders.”

Sam Torabi works within the community to improve the confidence and health of people by motivating those around him.

He has also worked with Peace Hospice to deliver exercise groups to patients and has taken part in charity events to raise money for them.

Roy Moore established the 1881 Club to improve the matchday experience for Watford FC fans. He raises fund for the many fan displays, help run a food banks and organises Christmas gifts for children in Watford General Hospital.

Mr Taylor added: “I would also like to congratulate all the nominees in the other seven categories of the Audentior Awards. They all do wonderful things for our community.

“The Audentior Awards are a chance to say thank you to people who deserve to be recognised.”

Finally, Alison Thomas has dedicated 30 years of her life helping vulnerable women make positive and lasting changes in their lives.

She has also created a domestic abuse awareness course, My Life, which was developed to help women under the cycle of abuse recognise abusive behaviours and set acceptable boundaries.
