A family have been left homeless after a kitchen fire left their home in flames.

Firefighters spent nearly three hours tackling the blaze last night (Saturday, September 14) in Ongar. The house had been reported to be completely alight when they arrived.

Five fire crews from Essex attended the house fire in Turret Court at 7.10pm. The fire had been put out by 11pm.

There were no reported casualties.

Following an investigation from Essex County Fire and Rescue, the cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental.

Just hours after the fire a Go Fund Me page named ‘Supporting Ben and Janine’ was set up. So far the page has raised over £1,000.

It read: “Tonight an awful event happened and a lovely couple Ben and janine lost there house and everything in it to a house fire.

“Fortunately them and their 3 children got out safely. As a community can we all please pull together and help them by donating to support them through this horrific ordeal. Thank you in advance.”
