A brand-new eco-friendly pop-up shop has opened in Marlow.

FourState, who are located on Spittal Street, officially opened to the public on Saturday, September 7, with the new store selling a range of zero-waste, ethical, sustainable and plastic-free products.

Founded by Rob Kemp and Patrick Brown, the two friends are hoping that their new store can not only help the environment, but also help the people of Marlow purchase responsibly, which will lead to recycling.

This comes after several environmental and climate change campaign groups have called on the public to reduce the amount of plastic they use.

Patrick said: “We established FourState when our own search for zero-waste products made us realise the difficulty in sourcing products that you knew you could trust, often having to do a lot of research and go to multiple vendors.

“We wanted to simplify this so that regardless of whether you are fully immersed in an eco and sustainable approach or taking your first steps to understand how it can work in your lifestyle, you can visit us as a one-stop shop and feel confident in the knowledge that we can guarantee the credentials of everything we sell.

“Having grown up locally, it is really rewarding to know that we are helping our community make an impact and be a part of a fight back against a global problem.”

Rob then added: “The response to FourState so far has been fantastic.

“We’ve found that customers have really had their eyes opened to the ease with which some more traditional products can be replaced with an ethical or eco-friendly alternative, such as replacing cling film with beeswax wraps.

“Whether you are looking for bamboo cutlery, a shampoo soap bar or ethically sourced activewear, we want to make it easier for people to make a difference as they go about their day-to-day.”

The company managed to get their spot in the town thanks to the help of Sorbon Estates.

Tamra Booth, who is the Sorbon Estates’ managing director said: “FourState brings something completely new to Marlow’s retail offer.

“The concept is highly relevant to current public concerns around sustainability and certainly resonates with our ethos to bring new, exciting, sustainable and futureproof retailers to the town.

“Patrick and Rob have been great to work with and we are thrilled to have helped bring their online business into physical retail.”
