A VOLUNTARY group that aims to help disadvantaged communities last week officially received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
NishkamSWAT, based in Springfield Road, Hayes, focuses on projects which make a difference to people in the short term and improves their prospects in the longer term.
It serves 4,000 meals and provides clothing and provisions for the homeless and displaced.
NishkamSWAT vans have become a recognised force on the streets of London.
This week’s ceremony at Venue 5 in Field End Road, Ruislip, was shared with sponsors, donors and partners.
Bruce Houlder, Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Hillingdon, formally presented the award, which he described as equivalent to a group MBE.
