A busy road has been shut after it was flooded.

Police were called at 5.45am this morning to Theobald Street, Borehamwood, after a water main burst.

A road closure was put in place due to the amount of standing water on the street.

It is causing heavy traffic along Shenley Road, with drivers forced to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

There is currently no access to Borehamwood Shopping Park from Shenley Road. It can only be accessed from the Stratfield Road side.

A spokesperson said: “Our repair team have arrived on site and have been able to redirect water across the network to restore supplies to the affected area.

“They are currently awaiting for traffic management to be set up and a road closure put in place before it is safe to begin excavating the damaged section of pipework.

“We anticipate all customers to have a water supply at this time, however this may be at a lower pressure until repairs are completed.

“We apologise for the disruption caused by the burst water main and thank you for your patience at this time.”
