THE Textile Museum in Commercial Street, Newtown, will have a special open day on Saturday, October 26.

The museum wants to hear the stories and experiences of working in Newtown in the days when there was more industry in the town – for example the cycle factory, the tannery, the laundry, the shirt factory.

This is part of a special event to celebrate Welsh Museums Festival week.

Photos and artefacts will be on display in the museum to help to prompt memories – and show upcoming generations what was there in the past.

Do visit with your stories and any photographs or memorabilia of that time to share with others, or just to experience the museum before the winter closure.

The museum will be open from 11.30am to 4pm. Everyone will be welcome.

Also photos of the tannery building and the halfpenny bridge in 1939 will be on show.
