Bargain hunters have just two weeks left to wait for Watford's first ever budget supermarket to open.

Lidl has announced its store in Lower High Street will open on Thursday November 21 and customers are invited to the grand opening at 8am.

Visitors on launch day will be offered the chance to sample some of Lidl's products, and shoppers will be treated to exclusive deals and offers throughout the first week.

The new store will have an in-store bakery, self checkouts, customer toilets, baby changing, a travelator, and a 92 space car park.

The store is situated on the corner of Lower High Street and Waterfields Way, near Bushey Arches.

Access to the store's car park will be via an access road off Lower High Street, near the entrance to The Arches Retail Park.

Alongside the new Lidl store, 92 flats are being built on the former gas holder site. This development will share the same access road.

Lidl GB’s regional head of property, Mike Devine, said: "We would like to thank all those who have played a part in bringing this new Lidl store to Watford. It is great for us to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area, and we can’t wait to start serving our multi-award winning products to the local community."

Lidl will not be the only budget store in the area. Work is well underway building the town's first Aldi store which will be very close by at Century Retail Park.
