PRIMARY school pupils in West Felton have been learning about different cultures and religions as part of an interface day.

Pupils of all year groups at West Felton CE Primary School took part in special lessons, and activities and crafts to recognise and celebrate different traditions and faiths.

Willow Class took part in lantern making for Diwali and Oak Class took part in singing their usual songs, but to African music. They also enjoyed using recycled materials to make their own Russian dolls.

Throughout the rest of the school, pupils were hard at work learning about countries all over the world and creating beautiful pictures using bright colours and various materials.

Teaching assistant, Janet Eagles, said that the day was to make the children aware of other countries’ traditions.

“Interface Day is to raise awareness of different religions and cultures,” she said.

“Each class has studied different countries and their traditions.

“We’ve had African music played and children taking part in puppetry.

“Being a Christian school, it’s part of our ethos to look at other religions.

“It’s been a great day. We’ve all really enjoyed it.”
