A GROUP of youngsters from Ellesmere have collectively gathered more than 50 boxes of food for the food bank.

On November 25, the 2nd Ellesmere Brownies collected 57 boxes of food, complete with Christmas treats – which will be vital for families in need over the festive period – for the town’s food bank.

The collection coincided with the girls earning their Shropshire Shares badges – which are awarded to the youngsters who have been collecting and donating to a worthwhile cause in their community.

The girls also talked about Eglantyne Jebb as part of the Save the Children centenary and took part in a Christmas jumper challenge.

Leader Caroline Ford said how proud she was of the girls.

“We as a group of leaders were bowled over by the generosity of the Brownies and families. Truly upholding their promise to think of others.

“Thank you all.”
