A LUXURY car was set on fire – and another vehicle torched – close to a curry house.

Two cars, a Range Rover Sport and a Volkswagen, were set on fire in two incidents near the Dalchini Indian restaurant on Bradshaw Road in Bolton in the early hours of Wednesday.

The owner of the Range Rover, spotted the VW on fire in the restaurant’s car park at 3.45am and called emergency services.

She said: “I heard the pops and bangs of the tyres on the other car and rang the fire brigade.

“I heard and watched them go and then my car was completely up in flames – it’s awful, it’s so close to the house.”

The fire crew from Bolton North had just returned to the station when they received a second call to say the Range Rover had been set on fire.

The crew returned to the scene at 4.50am, and spent 90 minutes tackling the fire.

The owner's car was one of six parked close together outside her home.

The mum-of-two tried to call her neighbour to alert him to the blaze but was forced to scream outside his window in an effort to wake him so he could move his car.

A Land Rover Defender was also damaged in the blaze. The seats were “slightly singed” and panels are now missing.

Police are investigating the incident as a suspected arson.

Crews from Bolton Central were called to a third car fire at Little Holme Walk at 2.15am where a car outside a block of flats was torched.
